In case you want to transfer a cask share to another casQueteer, e.g. as a gift or after you sold it on, then you need to follow the actions as described per situation.
Is it a gift?
Then you probably have been in contact with us already upfront. If not, no worries, we can help you easily.
When you want the recipient to have an account of his/her own then we can simply move the order to the other account.
- Does the recipient already have a casQueteers account?
- Yes – then just inform us via our contact form (topic: transfer a share) or email to which casQueteer (name and email are required) we need to move the order (order number and which share/product)?Replying to the order confirmation email would be easiest.
- No – then let the recipient first apply for an account of his/her own via our contact form (topic: registration). Once the account is setup, then proceed with the instructions as described above.
- Do you want to transfer you account with it?
- When you have bought a cask share as a gift and your not interested in retaining the account after handing over the gift, then you can also modify the account details to reflect the new owner. Go the casQ shop » Account to update all relevant details like name, email, phone, and addresses.
- Please don’t forget to send us a quick note via our contact form or email about the fact that you’ve handed over your account to the recipient so we are aware of the transfer as well.
This way we can update our offline cask share administration and the related newsletter registration as well!
Sold it on?
Selling a cask share to another is an agreement between you and the other casQueteer. You both agree on the price and make sure the payment is settled.
Once that is done, then please follow the steps below so we can update the cask administration accordingly.
- Fill in this email template:
Please log in to reveal the template.
- And send it to us.
The SKU numbers are the CQxxxx identifiers we use for our Cask Plans and they can be found in the casQ shop, in the casQ forum topics, and in the order confirmation mails (since ~2021).
You MUST send the email from the email address matching your casQ account and the buyers email address must match theirs in their accounts.
Please note: we can only create a replacement order, with the same date, for the new cask share owner when the cask share is transferred for the full 100% to a single person. This way the new owner of the cask share will also be able to order the cask sample during the first week when the cask sample is exclusively available to participants in the cask.
What if I’ve only sold a part of a cask share?
When you have sold part of your cask share then the following can be done:
- Make sure the new ‘co-owner’ has a casQueteers account of his/her own.
- Download your orders overview as CSV file and open it with the casQ export reader file, see casQ shop » Account » Orders (download).
- Search / filter for the right line(s) and add the @username of the new ‘co-owner’ to the cask share.
- For the full steps, please continue reading on: Product » Shared with (@mentions)
This way the new ‘co-owner’ will see the cask share in their personal downloadable overview as well. The restriction is that ‘co-owners’ can’t order a cask sample within the first week when cask samples become available in the casQ shop.
You remain in the eyes of casQueteers.com the full owner and thus will be the contact for when the cask is being bottled.
What if I’ve sold a cask share to multiple persons?
The situation is almost the same as when you only have sold a part of a cask share except for the fact that you are no longer owning a part of the cask share.
To get you fully of the hook you need to make sure that the persons you sold the cask share are comfortable with one new (main) owner of the cask share with the others being added as ‘co-owner’.
What does this all mean?
- casQueteers.com has a new contact for when the cask is being bottled.
- The new owner is able to order a cask sample during the first week when cask samples become available in the casQ shop.
- The ‘co-owners’ can’t order a cask sample during the first week when cask samples become available in the casQ shop.
See the previous section to see which steps you have to follow.
Timeline
Processing sold cask shares carefully takes some time due to all the necessary diligence in all of the administration, both online and offline, and this will typically be done in a batch once a month.
